Adventure on the High Sea! A Family’s Sailing Voyage Across the Atlantic, 2006 Xlibris Publishing

Interest area:

Geography, cultures, sailing, adventure

Description of presentation:

The presentation is age appropriate and exposes the children to adventure, discovering new cultures, life at sea and learning to become a young author themselves. I engage the children in asking ‘What would you do or miss the most if your family suddenly moved on to a sailboat?” I use several display items which the children can hold and look at independently. I read from the book and the children are given opportunity to ask questions about schoolwork, food, sharks, storms and how many times did our cat fall overboard! I give a short lesson in knot tying. Finally, the class can enjoy a pretzel snack which looks like the knots they learned to tie.
