ü Report on specific hazards one could encounter on an ocean adventure
Reading
ü Create a timeline mapping critical events.
ü Research paper on the bicentennial of the USA
ü Collaborative project centered around Ellis Island. Could include speeches, interviews, etc.
ü As one reads the book, write letters home detailing the events of the journey. Possibly mail these letters home to involve parents.

History/Geography
ü Plot the Barry family’s journey on a world map
ü Label a diagram of a sailboat
ü Report on a group of people or country the family visited
o This would be especially good to do in small groups, because the groups could make a movie/video presentation together.
